Front Desk Associate / Optometric Technician – Full-Time
Job Description:
Haverhill Family Eye Care, a growing and well-established optometry practice, is seeking a dependable and enthusiastic full-time Front Desk Associate/Optometric Technician to join our team. This cross-trained position combines front desk, patient care, and clinical support responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills; be comfortable using technology; and be able to multitask in a busy medical office.
Responsibilities Include:
Front Desk and Administrative Duties:
Welcoming patients and providing friendly, professional service
Checking patients in and out for appointments
Answering phone calls and responding to patient questions
Scheduling, confirming, and rescheduling appointments
Collecting and updating patient information
Verifying medical and vision insurance benefits
Collecting copayments and outstanding balances
Processing referrals and prior authorizations when needed
Scanning and organizing patient documents
Communicating with patients, providers, pharmacies, and insurance companies
Optometric Technician and Clinical Duties:
Preparing patients for their examinations
Reviewing and updating patients’ medical, ocular, and medication histories
Performing preliminary testing and accurately documenting results
Measuring visual acuity, intraocular pressure, and other diagnostic information
Setting up, operating, and cleaning virtual reality headsets used for patient testing or treatment
Explaining testing procedures and virtual reality headset use to patients
Assisting patients who need additional support while using the virtual reality headset
Preparing examination rooms and sanitizing equipment between patients
Entering patient information and test results into the electronic health record
Assisting providers during examinations and procedures when needed
Maintaining organized and efficient patient flow
Managing multiple patients and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
Following HIPAA requirements and maintaining patient confidentiality
Supporting providers and team members with general clinical and office duties
Qualifications:
Previous optometric, ophthalmic, medical assisting, medical front desk, or customer service experience preferred
Familiarity with medical and vision insurance strongly preferred
Comfortable learning and operating virtual reality headsets, diagnostic equipment, and other technology
Strong communication and customer service skills
Professional, patient, and friendly attitude
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment
Comfortable using computers, electronic health records, and office equipment
Dependable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team
Willingness to be cross-trained in both clinical and front desk responsibilities
Schedule:
Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 5:30 PM and Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
